Royal Toronto Family

FAQ

Questions, plainly answered.

  • What is Royal Toronto Family?

A planetary movement, institution and household — rooted in Toronto, organised as a family, addressed to the world. Our work is carried by four founding documents and an open invitation to stand alongside us.

  • Why Toronto?

Toronto is the most diverse city on Earth — already a prototype of the planetary civilisation now being born. The future will be remembered in the city that already holds the world within it.

  • Is this a religion, a political party, a charity?

None of these, and something of each. The family is a covenanted household, independent of any government, party or faith — open to all who recognise the work and choose to stand within it.

  • How do I join?

You do not join the family the way you join a list. You take up a station — by signing the Declaration, stewarding a circle, lending your craft, or supporting the work as a patron. Begin on the Get Involved page.

  • Where does the funding come from?

The family is funded through patient capital — gifts from individuals, families and institutions who measure return in generations. We publish our council and our patrons openly.

  • Who leads the family?

The family is governed by a council, advised by elders, and held to account by the youngest members of every circle. Leadership is distributed and bound by covenant rather than by office.
